Ind v/s SL- Proceedings end quickly.. India win the 2nd test, take 1-0 lead,,

27th nov 2009… 4th day of the Kanpur test…ended prematurely as expected…giving India its most deserved win…not having to bat for the 2nd time. All India needed to do is to bowl tidy…get wickets quickly and wrap up the match. India did the same. Having taken Sri Lankans top 4 batsmen into its trap…the Indian camp would have had a nice sleep…with dreams of win. Lankan team would also have had some dreams…not so pleasant…because they new that they had formalities the next day.

Resuming at their overnight score of 54 for 4 Lankans were dismissed for 269. Late resistance came from the tail but it was too heavy for them to tackle it… Greatest opposition came from Samaraweera who remained undefeated on 78. For INDIA Harbhajan and Ojha were the pick of the bowlers taking 3 and 2 wickets each.

Though there were many good performances with the bat…Sreeshanth, in his come back match was adjudged the man of the match…for turning the match in favour of India…and causing the assault on the Lankans from which they never recovered. His performance will be remembered because he delivered the goods on a wicket which was never thought to favour bowlers….and on personal fronts…he had to prove everything about himself.

India will go with boosted morals into the 3rd test at Mumbai…for that win could place India on the top of the tables as Test Team No 1. Will India able to achieve it……..? is a question to be watched for………………
